Beyond Solar

Domestic Electrical Services in Sandwich & East Kent

Same qualified team behind your solar and battery install also covers the rest of the consumer unit: fuse boxes, rewires, EV chargers, EICR inspections, PAT testing and fault-finding. One call for the whole electrical job, not a different contractor for every task.

Why We Cover Both

  • A solar or battery install touches the consumer unit anyway, so we're already qualified to work on the rest of it.
  • An EICR often surfaces issues (an old fuse box, a tired ring circuit) that are worth fixing at the same time as a solar job, not as a separate quote from someone else.
  • Every job gets the same paperwork trail: installation certificate, Part P notification where required, and a written fixed-price quote before we start.

Consumer Unit & Fuse Box Replacement

Rewireable fuse boxes and older plastic consumer units without RCBOs are a common reason an EICR fails. We fit a modern metal-clad unit with individual RCBOs per circuit, test everything, and hand over full paperwork.

Older wiring needing remedial work as well is quoted separately, always in writing before we start.

Home Rewires

Full and partial rewires for houses still running rubber or fabric-sheathed cable, round-pin sockets, or a rewireable fuse box. We work room by room so the kettle and bathroom stay usable, and leave chases filled flush and ready for a decorator.

Two-bed terrace5-7 working days
Three-bed semi7-10 working days
Four-bed detached10-15 working days

Too house-specific for a headline price. Every rewire gets a fixed written quote after a free walkaround, held for 30 days.

EV Charger Installation

A dedicated home EV charger pairs naturally with a solar or battery system, letting you route your own generation into the car instead of buying it back from the grid at peak rates. We handle the circuit, the DNO notification where required, and the charger itself.

EICR Inspections

An Electrical Installation Condition Report is the definitive check on a property's wiring: it flags anything from a tired fuse box to unsafe circuits, and it's what landlords and buyers need before anything else gets quoted.

PropertyPrice
Standard three-bed domestic EICRFrom £140

HMOs, larger homes or industrial boards are quoted individually.

PAT Testing

Portable appliance testing for landlords, holiday lets, offices and schools. Every item gets a pass/fail label and goes on a written register you can hand to an inspector or a guest without a second thought.

Above 15 items, tell us a rough count and we'll quote the visit in advance.

Fault-Finding

Tripping circuits, dead sockets, flickering lights. We diagnose on site rather than guessing over the phone, and quote any remedial work before touching anything.

Call-Out Fee

£95 covers the call-out and the first hour on site, whether that's diagnosis, quoting, a PAT testing round or an EICR. Each hour after that is £60, not a separate per-hour charge stacked on top of the call-out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do electrical work that isn't solar?

Yes. Alongside DIY plug-in and MCS solar installs, we cover general domestic electrical work: fuse box replacement, full and partial rewires, EV charger installs, EICR inspections, PAT testing and fault-finding across Sandwich and East Kent.

How much does a consumer unit replacement cost?

A standard consumer unit swap starts from £600 fitted, including the new unit, labour, a full EICR, an installation certificate and Part P notification. Older properties needing extra remedial work are quoted separately in writing before we start.

What does an EICR cost and how long is it valid?

From £140 for a standard three-bedroom home. Larger, HMO or industrial boards are quoted individually. A domestic EICR is typically valid for 10 years, or 5 years for rented property, sooner if the report flags issues.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

£95 covers a standard visit for diagnosis, quoting, PAT testing or an EICR, including the first hour of any fault-finding. Each hour after that is £60.
